3 Weeks

22 April 2021

Yes, it's been

3 weeks since we said goodbye

Hard to believe you're no longer mine

Supposed to last a whole lifetime.

I think I'm fine

I keep myself

Occupied and turn to God

Learning to draw strength from my Lord.

But there are days

I lose the fight

Exhaustion wins

Others don't see behind my grins.

Other effects may come over time

I will learn to deal with them

I admit it's scary

When you know it may be more than just weary.

I was never meant to be without you

I was never meant to be without you

I suppose in time I will get by

But I was never meant to be without you.

Well, now it's been

3 weeks since I lost you

A new friend now walks with me

Who, in time, may hurt me.

And now I walk the line

My Lord's hand in mine

Chin up, shoulders back

Adjust and get on track.

I was never meant to be without you

I was never meant to be without you

I suppose in time I will get by

But I was never meant to be without you.

In memory of my butterfly, I have written this parody to the song "3 Weeks" by Canadian musician, Tiga James Sontag. It has been exactly 3 weeks since my total thyroidectomy.
